Mark Flannery qualified from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London W2 in 1980 gaining the prize for Surgical Pathology. He obtained his FRCS in London and Edinburgh.
He then entered a Registrar Training Rotation at St Mary's, progressing to Orthopaedic Senior Registrar Training at St George`s Hospital in 1989. He was appointed a Consultant in Shoulder and elbow surgery in 1993, establishing modern techniques of key hole surgery in the shoulder at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. He now leads the expanding department, in his role as Clinical Director of Trauma and Orthopaedics;.
Mr Flannery has published widely in the literature and written 2 book chapters on shoulder and elbow surgery. He is a member of the BMA, British Orthopaedic Association and British Elbow and Shoulder Society.
