Mr Anthony Hearnden is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery.  He qualified from Kings College Medical School London in 1995. Completing his years as a junior doctor at the Royal Surrey he then spent a year learning techniques in plastic surgery.  

His Orthopaedic training was in South West London before winning a prestigious hand and shoulder surgery fellowship at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit. In 2007 he was made a consultant at Wrightington, where he routinely treated complex and tertiary hand, elbow and upper limb disorders from the North West of England.  He returns to Guildford in 2010 to take up a consultant post at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

In addition to his surgical qualifications, he holds a BSc in medical physics and is an honorary senior lecturer in orthopaedic management at Salford University.  Mr. Hearnden lectures nationally and internationally on hand, shoulder and elbow surgery. He is a member of several professional organisations, widely published in the medical journals and a member of the Ascension Orthopaedics product development team for new joint replacements in the hand and wrist.

Mr Hearnden specialises exclusively in upper limb surgery of the hand, wrist, shoulder and elbow. His surgery uses advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive methods and offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary upper limb service, through close links with referring therapists and clinicians.
